Develpment of a Peer-to-Peer methodology for the transfer of the selected schooling paradigm.

Primary and secondary research aiming to identify the needs of the selected targeted areas, the examination of the selected “good practice” of inclusive schooling and the design of the transfer of the “good practice” to the selected areas for intervention.

The secondary research activities included literature review regarding Roma school drop-out and indentification of existing inclusive school culture best practices. The field research aimed at documeting the successful school paradigm while identifying the needs of the target areas for the intervention.

Desk research national and european level

Review of national and international review to explore:

a. the factors contributing to the school dropout of Roma students with an emphasis on issues of school exclusion / marginalization, educability and adaptability

b. best practices on inclusive education, especially on refined methods of teaching, enhancment of the role of the teachers, equal participation in the learning process and in the school community.

Field research

Field research to explore the selected schooling paradigm of the “foster school”

– Identification of the key shifting factors in terms of Roma school integration

– Exploration of the inclusive paradigm from the part of the students

– 2 focus groups with the participation of teachers and parents of Roma and non-Roma students
– 1 focus group with the participation of representatives of local and regional educational authorities as well as local and public authorities

– 1 focus group with the participation of Roma and non Roma students

Field research for the identification of the needs of the areas of intervention

– Exploration of the Roma sense of belonging in the local society with an emphasis on the role of educaiton in their perceptions of social integration

– Assessment of the preparedness of the target areas for implementing the intervention, supporting the activities and promoting its objectives

– Exploration of Romma students perceptions about the current educational system, assessment of the schooling culture in their areas and identification reasons for school drop-out

-Exploration of acceptance of Roma students as equal members of the school community with an emphasis on the possibilities of developing relationships with them

Peer2Peer Action Plan

The targeted methodology, designed based on the research activities outcomes, is the basis of the Project Action Plan for thePeer-to-Peer transfer τof the selected inclusive schooling paradigm. More specifically, the Peer-to-Peer Action plan includes:

  • Identification of key stakeholders network / definition of their roles and responsibilities
  • Specfication of content and processes of the capacitity building activities
  • Determining pilot implementation procedures aiming to CONNECT the foster area to the selected areas targeted by the intervention.
